The Minnesota Wild and Jack Hughes are connected through need and brotherhood. Quinn Hughes, a star defenseman for Minnesota, has expressed interest in playing with his brothers in the past. However, is Minnesota a realistic landing spot for both of them? It appears that the Wild are trying to make it a reality.
Minnesota has placed a call to the New Jersey Devils about trading for Jack Hughes, as reported by The Athletic’s Michael Russo. It is unclear if New Jersey is seriously considering the possibility of trading away its 25-year-old star; however, the Wild are trying to pair him with Quinn Hughes.
So, what would a potential trade package for Hughes look like for Minnesota and New Jersey?
Potential trade package for Jack Hughes involving the Minnesota Wild

More likely than not, Jack Hughes will stay with the Devils moving forward. After hiring Sunny Mehta as the general manager, New Jersey is heading in the right direction. However, what if he did force his way to Minnesota? The trade package would be a little complicated.
After trading for Quinn Hughes in December 2025, the Wild are left with a depleted asset chest. This makes a pursuit of Jack Hughes harder, as the Devils wouldn’t trade him for a pile of scraps. Therefore, Minnesota would have to be creative, starting with its young talent.
Any trade package should start with Jesper Wallstedt, Charlie Stramel, Danila Yurov, and multiple first-round picks. This package is similar to Minnesota’s potential trade for Detroit Red Wings center Dylan Larkin. Obviously, the 25-year-old center is a more expensive addition than Larkin.
Therefore, there would have to be other pieces or teams involved. Jack Hughes is a young and very talented player, meaning Minnesota might have to include more assets to push a deal across the finish line. After all, the Devils won’t be in a rush to trade the star center unless he requests a trade.
For now, Jack Hughes to Minnesota feels like a long shot this summer, but the organization is at least trying to make it happen.
