It took the Tennessee Titans just 23 games to realize Brian Callahan wasn’t the right head coach for their football team. Yet, after leading them to just a 4-19 record, it’s hard to argue with Tennessee’s decision to fire Callahan after Week 6, when the Titans were just 1-5.

They only won two more games in the next 11 games under interim coach Mike McCoy. Now, the Titans are moving quickly to find their next head coach, lining up interviews with several candidates.

Yet, Tennessee’s process is moving quickly. On Thursday, the Titans will interview Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, who has won two Super Bowls as a coordinator.

Tennessee has also scheduled interviews with Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, former Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski, plus former Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris.

Nagy is especially interesting given his ties to Titans general manager Mike Borgonzi, dating back to their time together on the Chiefs. Nagy’s interview won’t take place in person, but will be conducted virtually instead.

Typically, teams conduct a first round of interviews with a wide range of candidates before narrowing down their list to a smaller group brought back for a second round, often done in person. We’ll see if Nagy makes it to the second round in Tennessee too, but his connection to Borgonzi should help.
