Heading into last season, no one knew what to expect from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After seeing Tom Brady walk out the door, only to be replaced by Baker Mayfield, let’s just say expectations weren’t sky high.

Admittedly, I didn’t expect a lot from the Buccaneers last season. I believe I actually had the Carolina Panthers as my pick to win the NFC South in Sportsnaut’s annual NFL playoff predictions. Let’s just say I was humbled, much like a reporter recently was at the NFL Combine.

I didn’t have the pleasure of attending the NFL Combine, yet after seeing Tampa Bay Buccaneers GM Jason Licht go after a reporter who also had low expectations for his team, maybe that’s a good thing.

This poor reporter allegedly predicted the Bucs to win just two games in 2023. We know now that Baker Mayfield led his team to a playoff appearance after winning the NFC South, but again, no one knew what to expect when the year began.

Either way, this clip of Licht going at a reporter for what turned out to be a bad bold prediction is awesome. At least the reporter owned up to his mistake.

It’s safe to assume he will be a bit more careful when making predictions next season. Maybe we all should be if they can run it back with Mayfield and Mike Evans.
