With only four weeks left to play on this year’s NFL schedule, there’s not much time left for coaches to make a lasting impression that they hope will either save their job or earn them a promotion this offseason. Yet, some teams, like the Tennessee Titans, are already set to hire a new head coach this offseason

While interim coach Mike McCoy is getting a chance to show he’s worthy of landing the job on a full-time basis, odds are the Titans will find other candidates they like more. They may even find one with a Super Bowl ring.

Recently, Sports Illustrated’s Conor Orr stated that former Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy has already emerged as a frontrunner to coach the Titans in 2026.

“McCarthy, 62, is viewed by some as an early front-runner for the Titans’ vacancy given his experience at the quarterback position and the Titans needing to maximize 2025 No. 1 pick Cam Ward. Though there are some conflicting opinions emerging that Tennessee may value a younger voice in the building. “

The Titans may very well want a younger option than McCarthy, especially considering so many other teams are always trying to identify the next wunderkind who will be their coach for decades to come. Is that what Tennessee covets too?

Or do they just want to hire someone who’s already proven capable of winning at the highest level? If so, McCarthy could be just what they’re looking for. Whether the interest is mutual remains to be seen.
