Week 6 pits the Los Angeles Rams against their NFC West rival Arizona Cardinals, in what has the potential to be a pivotal matchup. The Rams, who are coming off a hard-fought 23-14 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, might not have coach Sean McVay strolling the sideline.

McVay’s Rams are 2-3, looking to get back to .500, but he doesn’t even know if he’ll be able to be with his team at SoFi Stadium thanks to a unique circumstance.

During Friday’s press conference, Coach McVay revealed that he and his wife, Veronika, are expecting their first child any day now. If his wife goes into labor on Sunday, he’s already made the decision that he won’t be coaching.

“Really feel fortunate that it’s been a smooth pregnancy, my wife has been incredible and, so, it hasn’t quite hit me yet. He’s active right now, it seems like he’s ready to come at any moment. What a blessing that will be.”

The Rams likely have a contingency plan in place should McVay not be able to coach, but they haven’t announced it to the public just yet. Being that defensive coordinator Raheem Morris has previous head coaching experience, he would likely be the one who’s called upon on short notice.
