Due to reports that the Houston Texans have just signed quarterbacks Brian Hoyer and Ryan Mallett to the team, quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick may find himself looking for another job this week.
If the Texans do release Fitzpatrick, it is reported by NFL Media’s Albert Breer that the New York Jets—with a ton of money to spend—would target the 32-year-old signal caller. This move would put Fitzpatrick under Chan Gailey’s offense, who he spent three seasons working under when he was quarterbacking for the Buffalo Bills.
With the free-agent quarterback market dreadfully thin, scraping up Fitzpatrick to compete with an inconsistent Geno Smith in 2015 makes sense for the short term.
Fitzpatrick’s best stretch of success came with Buffalo between 2010 and 2012 where he passed for 10,232 yards, scored 71 touchdowns and threw 51 interceptions.
