It was earlier this offseason that reports surfaced about two-time Pro Bowler Haason Reddick and the Philadelphia Eagles. It was noted that Philadelphia had given the talented edge rusher permission to seek a trade as he enters the final year of his contract.

Reddick, 29, pushed back against the notion that he had requested a trade. But rumors continued to float about regarding a potential blockbuster.

We’re now hearing more on that from the NFL Combine in Indianapolis. According to Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer, “teams have reached out to the Eagles about” a potential Reddick trade.

“Reddick never said he wanted a new deal last summer, but he had a ‘quasi’ holdout at the start of training camp, sources said, when he missed two days with a groin injury. And when he returned and was asked about his average annual salary vs. other edge rushers — he currently ranks 16th, per overthecap.com — he said, ‘Y’all see it, y’all know what’s going on.'”

Report on Haason Reddick situation with the Philadelphia Eagles

A former first-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals back in 2017, Reddick signed a three-year, $45 million contract with Philadlephia ahead of the 2022 season. All he has done with the Eagles is produce in two seasons.

At issue here is Reddick’s $21.88 million cap hit for the 2024 season and the fact that he’s entering his final year of the aforementioned contract.

Philadelphia also has youngsters potentially ready to take on larger roles out on the edge. That includes 2023 first-round pick Nolan Smith.

As for Reddick, there should be a nice amount of interest in his services from teams in need of pass-rush help. His production is a rarity in today’s NFL.

Any potential trade would likely hinge on Reddick agreeing to a contract extension with his new team. This could hold things up a tad.
