Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown popped up in NFL rumors during the regular season, with many around the league pondering if the All-Pro offensive weapon would be dealt. While Howie Roseman kept his top pass catcher in 2025, issues within the locker room remain.
The Athletic‘s Dianna Russini reported on Saturday that Brown’s relationship with the Eagles organization remains somewhat “tenuous” amid lingering NFL trade rumors that he could request to get out of Philadelphia.

- A.J. Brown contract (Spotrac): $33.393 million cap hit (2026), $22.705 million cap hit (2027), $27.588 million cap hit (2028),$29.307 million cap hit (2029)
Brown, 28, did not earn All-Pro honors or a Pro Bowl selection in 2025 for the first time since 2021. While he still delivered a 1,000-yard season, his yards per reception (12.9), yards per target (8.4), and receiving yards per game (66.9) dropped to their lowest totals since his final season with the Tennessee Titans.
Among the issues in Philadelphia, Brown’s relationship with quarterback Jalen Hurts seemed to be a major problem. While the club is bringing in a new offensive coordinator and play-caller Sean Mannion is adding new assistants to the Eagles’ coaching staff, the organization as a whole is backing Hurts.
If there is not going to be an Eagles quarterback change, then it seems reasonable to think that Brown will force his way out of Philadelphia. He would immediately become the most coveted offensive weapon available this offseason, providing the Eagles’ front office with an opportunity to obtain premium draft capital.
However, his potential departure would leave a massive void in Philadelphia’s passing attack. With the uncertainty at play-caller and the durability concerns along the offensive line, it greatly risks the Eagles’ offense taking an even bigger step back in 2026.
