Nick Sirianni has seen two of his former offensive coordinators go on to become NFL head coaches. First, it was Shane Steichen becoming head coach of the Indianapolis Colts, then Kellen Moore taking over the New Orleans Saints.

Now, the Eagles are replacing their offensive coordinator because coach Sirianni has demoted Kevin Patullo after one season. Patullo’s new role has yet to be determined, but now the Eagles know who will take over offensive coordinator duties in Philadelphia.

On Thursday, the Eagles announced that they’ve hired Sean Mannion away from the Green Bay Packers, where he had been operating as their quarterbacks coach. The year prior, Mannion was hired as an offensive assistant with the Packers.

Now, he’s set to join Sirianni’s staff in a key role after just wrapping up his playing career in 2023. Mannion, 33, spent nine years as an NFL QB, where he got to play for Sean McVay and Kevin O’Connell, to name a few. After spending the past two seasons learning from Packers coach Matt LaFleur, Mannion is now set for another big leap in his coaching career.

Mannion has yet to call plays, but he will get a chance to do so for the first time in his new role in Philadelphia. Last year, those duties belonged to Patullo, but there were often rumors that Sirianni could take over instead. This time, Sirianni will once again have a heavy influence in the offense, but will relegate play-calling duties to his offensive coordinator.
