Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni knows what a Super Bowl team looks like. He didn’t see that last season in Philadelphia, so once the offseason arrived, the Eagles coach knew where to make changes.

One of the most notable moves thus far was firing offensive coordinator/playcaller Kevin Patullo. He’s since been replaced by former NFL QB Sean Mannion, who had been serving as the quarterbacks coach of the Green Bay Packers. Yet, like Patullo, he has no previous experience as an offensive coordinator or a playcaller.

However, coach Sirianni tried to hire someone who not only has experience in both roles, but has done so while winning a Super Bowl.

According to The Athletic‘s Dan Pompei, coach Sirianni spoke to former Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich about a position on the staff. Yet, Reich opted against another job in Philadelphia and has since landed another job as an offensive coordinator, this time with the New York Jets instead.

Reich, 64, will now have a bigger challenge, trying to fix a Jets offense that still doesn’t know who their starting quarterback will be. Yet, perhaps he preferred that scenario over the Super Bowl expectations in Philadelphia, behind Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, and A.J. Brown.
