A new report makes it seem like the New England Patriots acquiring AJ Brown in a trade isn’t a matter of if, but simply when.
After getting decisively beaten by the Seattle Seahawks in the Super Bowl, the Patriots are all about doing all they can to improve the roster and be the rare team that returns to the Big Game following a loss. Without a doubt, getting a big-time weapon in the pass game, especially after releasing Stefon Diggs, is a top priority this offseason.
Unsurprisingly, the franchise has been linked to a trade for Philadelphia Eagles star receiver AJ Brown for weeks. And a recent report suggested New England even made an offer of a first and third-round pick for the three-time Pro Bowler. However, the Eagles are looking for a return of at least a first and second-rounder.
With the price being so high, there has been a lot of chatter that Philadelphia could still hold on to Brown despite his obvious frustrations with his use throughout the 2025 season. However, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, multiple league sources have characterized a trade out of Philly as “inevitable.”
New England Patriots remain the favorite in the AJ Brown trade market

Furthermore, Florio adds that most believe the Eagles plan to move Brown after June 1, because, as a source explained, “the Eagles will be careening toward a potential cap mess in 2027, if they keep Brown through 2026.” But how good are the Patriots’ chances of completing a trade when there are many other interested teams, including the Los Angeles Rams?
Well, it seems pretty good. “The Patriots remain in play, despite the recent addition of former Green Bay Packers receiver Romeo Doubs. One source predicts that the Patriots will be the eventual destination,” the NFL insider claimed.
“Regardless, the fact that a trade hasn’t occurred doesn’t mean it won’t. The signs continue to point toward it happening. The only question is whether the Eagles decide to wait to make the deal official after June 1.”
