A new rumor has revealed what the Philadelphia Eagles will want from teams like the New England Patriots and Buffalo Bills in a potential trade for star receiver AJ Brown.
Once the new NFL league year opens, Brown’s future will be one of the biggest stories in the weeks ahead. The receiver is a three-time Pro Bowler and can be a game breaker every Sunday. However, in 2025, the 28-year-old did not hide his frustration with how he was used in the offense. Creating a scenario where it might be in the best interest of the team to move Brown.
Despite the damage he did to his reputation last season, many teams will be interested in acquiring his services. Two of the most notable that have been linked to Brown in recent weeks are AFC contenders, the Patriots and Bills. In the teams’ circles, there has been a lot of discussion on what a trade will cost. Well, some clarity to that question arrived on Wednesday.
Patriots & Bills will need to give up 1st and 2nd-rounder to get AJ Brown
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, if the Eagles do seriously consider offloading Brown, sources tell the insider they would want a return similar to what the New York Jets received when they traded four-time Pro Bowler Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys before last season’s trade deadline.
In the deal, New York landed a 2026 second-round pick, a 2027 first-round pick (which will be the better of the Cowboys’ two 2027 first-rounders), and defensive tackle Mazi Smith. Garafolo added that if general manager Howie Roseman does not get an offer close to that, he won’t make the deal because Brown is still well-liked in the lockerroom.
However, he did add that Brown’s contract for next season is a major reason why the Eagles lack the flexibility to improve the roster this offseason. Browns have four years left on his contract and will be a $23.3 million cap hit in 2026. The guarantees on his deal begin to decline after next season.
