The NFL trade deadline is less than two weeks away and it’s been made abundantly clear by league insiders that this could be a much busier season of deals than we’ve seen in the past. With a number of impact players available, making the right move could be the difference between winning or losing a playoff game.
Before the main slate of Week 8 action kicks off, leaving us with use one week before the NFL trade deadline, we’re proposing six NFL trades we’d love to see.

Green Bay Packers Acquire Roger McCreary

The Nate Hobbs contract (four years, $48 million) has already proven to be a disaster for the Green Bay Packers. He’s been one of the worst cover corners in the NFL this season, and that’s when his knee hasn’t kept him off the field. If Green Bay wants to maximize its pass rush, acquiring another corner feels necessary.
- Green Bay Packers trade: 2026 fifth-round pick
- Tennessee Titans trade: Roger McCreary
The Tennessee Titans are more than willing to be sellers at the NFL trade deadline, and since Roger McCreary is in the final year of his rookie contract (free agent in 2026), it won’t take much convincing for him to be dealt. The 25-year-old corner fits into the athletic profile Green Bay needs and is currently playing reduced snaps due to the Titans’ three-safety defense scheme.

Detroit Lions Bolster Secondary with Riq Woolen Trade

In a perfect world, the Detroit Lions would love to acquire Trey Hendrickson, Jaelan Phillips, or Jermaine Johnson. However, the Cincinnati Bengals are intent on keeping Hendrickson, and it seems both the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins are setting cost-prohibitive asking prices for their edge rushers. So, we shift to upgrading the depth of the Lions’ secondary.
- Seattle Seahawks trade: Riq Woolen
- Detroit Lions trade: Roy Lopez, 2026 fifth-round pick
With Devon Witherspoon rejoining the Seattle Seahawks secondary after the Week 8 bye, Riq Woolen becomes expendable. He needs to play on a defense that uses man coverage frequently, and his snaps have already been reduced this season with Witherspoon healthy again.
Miami Dolphins Trade Jaelan Phillips to Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs have been excellent defensively since Week 2, but there’s still room for improvement considering the team’s Lombardi Trophy aspirations. One thing Steve Spagnuolo could certainly use is an edge rusher to improve a front that ranks just 22nd in ESPN pass-rush win rate (36 percent) and ranks 23rd in pressure rate (18.8 percent) entering Week 8.
- Kansas City Chiefs trade: 2026 fourth-round pick, 2027 fifth-round pick, Joshua Williams
- Miami Dolphins trade: Jaelan Phillips
There could be an interesting path to a deal with the Miami Dolphins for Jaelan Phillips. While the Dolphins are reluctant to move him, it’s not out of the question and this team has a lot of needs. Two mid-round picks would provide the front office with some draft capital and Joshua Williams could step into a major role for a Dolphins’ secondary that has no good options right now. For Kansas City, Williams is expendable as he’s on an expiring deal and has played just 11 defensive snaps this season.

Houston Texans Acquire Jerome Ford to Strengthen Backfield

The Cleveland Browns are set at running back thanks to rookies Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson, making Jerome Ford one of the likeliest offensive skill players to be moved at the NFL trad deadline. While several potential landing spots stand out, the Houston Texans feel like the right fit.
- Cleveland Browns trade: Jerome Ford, 2026 fifth-round pick (Bengals)
- Houston Texans trade: 2026 fourth-round pick
Ford will provide Houston with an explosive running back, as evidenced by his 4.5 yards-per-carry average over the last two seasons (1,378 rushing yards on 308 carries). He’s also a serviceable pass-catcher, pulling in 81 of 106 targets for 544 receiving yards from 2023-24.
New England Patriots Reunite with Jakobi Meyers

Jakobi Meyers has made it clear to the Las Vegas Raiders that he wants a change of scenery, especially if it means landing with a team that can deliver the football accurately. With the New England Patriots in the market for a complementary wideout to pair with Stefon Diggs and Kayshon Boutte, the fit feels natural.
- Las Vegas Raiders trade: Jakobi Meyers
- New England Patriots trade: 2026 fifth-round pick
Meyers fits New England for a variety of reasons. For one thing, he’s a willing blocker who would help Josh McDaniels as he tries to make the Patriots’ rushing attack more effective. Second, Meyers is a good route-runner who knows how to get open in the intermediate areas. He’d complement Boutte and Diggs quite nicely, and the Patriots’ organization knows better than anyone what it can get out of Meyers and ho
