For months, NFL rumors have indicated that this is the offseason where the Philadelphia Eagles will trade disgruntled, yet productive receiver A.J. Brown. They’ve had several seemingly ideal trade windows, from the start of the offseason when free agency got underway, which is when many trades typically take place. Another opportunity came during the 2026 NFL Draft.

Throughout it all, the most common scenario has involved the Eagles trading Brown after June 1 passes. This delayed transaction would allow the Eagles to move on from Brown while spreading the dead cap charge across multiple seasons.

Now, Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio suggests that a trade involving Brown comes down to the New England Patriots or “no one.”

“The vibe has lingered for weeks that the Eagles will trade him,” Florio wrote. “At this point, there’s only one viable destination: New England. If there was another team pursuing Brown, we’d know about it. The Eagles would have leaked it. The goal would be to pit two teams against each other in the hopes of getting the best possible return. As it stands, it’s the Patriots or no one. And with all indications pointing to the Eagles and Brown being beyond the point of no return, Philly’s only play is to make a deal.”

Other reports have suggested that there’s still time for another team to swoop in and trade for the three-time Pro Bowl receiver. Until the Eagles agree to a trade that ships Brown out of town, there’s always the chance of another team presenting a better offer.
