Last season when the New York Jets were fluttering, they traded the 73rd overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft for Davante Adams. He went on to record a respectable 67 receptions for 854 yards and seven touchdowns across 11 games.
But now that his buddy Aaron Rodgers is moving on, the Jets are preparing to do the same with Adams. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Jets are already “taking calls” on Adams regarding a potential trade. Yet, if no deal can be reached, the Jets are reportedly expected to release him from the roster.
Adams, a 32-year-old three-time All-Pro with six 1,000-yard seasons to his name, will surely garner interest, whether it’s on the open market or via trade. So, which teams could add the six-time Pro Bowl receiver this offseason?
Buffalo Bills acquire Davante Adams

The Jets aren’t going to trade a talented receiver like Davante Adams within the division, so if he ends up with the Bills, it would have to happen as a free agency signing. However, if the Jets can’t find a trade partner for Adams due to his $38.3 million cap hit for 2025, they may have no choice but to cut him and joining a division rival with a strong chance of reaching the Super Bowl could be intriguing. Plus, with Josh Allen, Adams is assured of being in a high-volume passing offense, which should help him in future contract discussions.

Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens are set to lose Nelson Agholor in free agency, but they could upgrade by adding an accomplished receiver with over 11,000 receiving yards in his career. Adams is still chasing his first Super Bowl ring, and the Ravens have as good of a chance as any with Lamar Jackson.

Denver Broncos

Bo Nix’s emergence as a franchise quarterback makes the Denver Broncos a top destination for any free agent receiver. The Broncos are looking to supply their young QB with more weapons this offseason, and adding a veteran plus a young prospect with superstar potential feels like the perfect recipe for success.

Houston Texans

The Texans are losing Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell will miss a significant portion of the 2025 season, which means CJ Stroud will need other targets to rely on. Joining the Texans would give Adams a chance at becoming the No. 2 target on a contender that has a strong chance of competing for a Super Bowl victory.

Dallas Cowboys

Brandin Cooks is entering free agency, but perhaps that’s an opportunity for the Cowboys to upgrade their receiving corps to plug in a new starter opposite CeeDee Lamb. With Dak Prescott expected to be ready for the start of the 2025 season, Adams can command the second-most targets on the team, which should be a high volume in Brian Schottenheimer’s offense.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers have already expressed an interest in upgrading their receiving corps this offseason, and Adams would certainly qualify. Not to mention, the Steelers are one of the few contenders who could also potentially offer a package deal by signing Aaron Rodgers too, allowing the two longtime teammates to reunite again.

Kansas City Chiefs

As odd as it is to say for a team led by Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs need more help on offense. While offensive line reinforcements are needed, the Chiefs will need another pass-catcher too and Adams is eagerly awaiting a chance to win a Super Bowl ring. The hungry Chiefs will present a strong opportunity.
