Like other teams around the league, the New York Jets have been busy making coaching changes this offseason. Soon enough, the Jets will start making roster changes too.
At the forefront of those conversations to improve the roster after a 3-14 season will be finding a better quarterback. Recruiting a top QB to an offense that ranked 29th in scoring may be tricky, but they could turn to a coaching connection to help smooth things over. After hiring Frank Reich as New York’s offensive coordinator/playcaller, folks are starting to connect the dots to a potential Jets trade.
Recently, SNY’s Jets insider Connor Hughes suggested that Arizona Cardinals QB Jacoby Brissett is now a “potential trade target.” Brissett spent three seasons with Reich together on the Indianapolis Colts from 2018 to 2020.
He’d make 30 appearances in those three seasons under Reich, leading the team to a 7-8 record as their full-time starter in 2019. Now, Reich could turn back to Brissett in what would likely become a starting QB competition in New York with another QB addition this offseason.
Yet, Brissett does have one season left on his contract in Arizona. He also played well for the Cardinals last season, finishing with career highs in completion rate, passing yards, and touchdowns. However, with the Cardinals hiring a new head coach, they could be looking to start fresh with a new QB room that could include a trade involving Kyler Murray.
