Another big piece of John Harbaugh’s coaching staff with the New York Giants has been etched in stone. The Giants previously hired Dennard Wilson as defensive coordinator and Chris Horton as special teams coordinator.
Those hires were crucial, but Giants fans were still asking who would be the offensive coordinator/playcaller that works closely with Jaxson Dart? We now have an answer.
According to ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Giants have hired Matt Nagy as their new offensive coordinator. Nagy will be calling plays in New York, just as he has done in some of his previous stops.
Nagy has been the Chiefs’ offensive coordinator for the past three seasons after spending 2022 as Kansas City’s senior assistant/QB coach.
The two-time Super Bowl winner with the Kansas City Chiefs mutually decided to move on from Andy Reid and company after the 2025 season came to a close. Yet, Nagy had been planning to move on since before the 2025 season kicked off, as he was seeking another chance to be either an NFL head coach or an offensive playcaller again.
Nagy’s first head coaching stint, coming with the Chicago Bears, concluded with a 34-31 record across four seasons. He also interviewed for the Tennessee Titans‘ head coaching job this offseason.
Now Nagy gets another chance to call plays in New York, where the Giants have a sneaky good cast of weapons that includes Dart, Cam Skattebo, Malik Nabers, and Wan’Dale Robinson (if the pending free agent returns).
