Multiple Pro Bowlers have already been traded this month, with Myles Garrett and A.J. Brown already exchanging teams. Now, some believe the New Orleans Saints could be the next team involved in a trade involving a former Pro Bowl player.

Saints trade rumors have run rampant for months, but now that June 1 has passed, the likelihood of a trade involving one of their star players has increased. Trades that occur now allow the Saints to shed expensive contracts while spreading out the cap penalties across multiple seasons, rather than taking the punishment all in one year.

Recently, Jason La Canfora of Casino Guru had a chance to speak with multiple NFL executives. One of them offered insight on the potential trade market involving five-time Pro Bowl running back Alvin Kamara.

On Alvin Kamara: “This trade, if executed, will look more like ‘a salary dump,’ as one longtime NFL exec put it, than a blockbuster.”

Kamara has emerged as a popular trade candidate ever since the Saints signed a new starting back, Travis Etienne, to a four-year, $48 million contract. Kamara has a $10.4 million cap hit for the 2026 season, which is the final year of his contract. That’s too rich for a backup, especially for a 30-year-old running back who turns 31 in July.

It also doesn’t help that Kamara only made it through 11 games last season, recording a career-low 657 yards from scrimmage. That’s the risk with Kamara’s trade market. After recording over 1,000 yards from scrimmage in his first eight seasons, can Kamara return to being an elite playmaker?
