Teams have been busy upgrading their biggest weaknesses this offseason. That includes the New England Patriots, who have made several additions on offense and defense.
One possibility that hasn’t come to fruition is an A.J. Brown trade. The Philadelphia Eagles appear open to trading the three-time Pro Bowl receiver, but general manager Howie Roseman won’t just give the former Super Bowl winner away.
Meanwhile, the Patriots, who have moved on from Stefon Diggs and have since signed Romeo Doubs, could still look to make another significant addition to their receiver room.
According to ESPN’s Patriots insider Mike Reiss, New England is open to all possibilities that could improve their roster. That includes a trade for Brown, who has six 1,000-yard seasons in seven years as a pro.
Here was Patriots general manager Eliot Wolf’s response when asked about trading for Brown this offseason.
“We’ll explore anything we think can help the team.”
The question is, do Wolf and head coach Mike Vrabel believe Brown can help the team? Brown has a $23.3 million cap hit for 2026. He’d be the highest-paid receiver in New England, but he’d also be the best. The question is, is he worth the price? Not only the price to pay him, but the cost it would take to trade for him too, which may require parting with their first-round pick.
