The Las Vegas Raiders coaching search is a few weeks in, but one of the top potential targets was taken off the board when the Baltimore Ravens hired Jesse Minter. While the top defensive-minded coaching candidate is off the table, another key target has been identified.
NFL insider James Palmer shared on a Bleacher Report live stream that Denver Broncos quarterbacks coach and offensive pass game coordinator Davis Webb is a name to watch in the Raiders coaching search after the hiring of Minter in Baltimore.
Webb, age 31, would immediately become the youngest head coach in the NFL if he is hired by Las Vegas. A former third-round pick in the 2017 NFL draft, Webb got into coaching in 2023 on the Sean Payton staff in Denver. He has spent the last three years learning from one of the league’s top offensive minds and has been viewed as a rising name in the coaching world.

The Raiders aren’t the only team interested in Webb. He’s interviewed with the Ravens and he’s been linked to the Buffalo Bills finding the firing of Sean McDermott. While Webb doesn’t have strong ties to Tom Brady, Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated mentioned that potential options for Webb’s Raiders coaching staff to have ties to the minority owner.
““He hasn’t coached for very long is the problem. But he played in the league recently. My understanding is he’s got a passing relationship with Tom Brady, but he’s got two offensive coordinator names that I know are on this list that have tight connections to Brady. One is Brian Daboll, who could wind up going to Tennessee as the coordinator or could go to Buffalo as the head coach, but Brian Daboll is one name for Davis Webb.”

With his background working with quarterbacks and playing the position, Webb could be the ideal fit to pair with Fernando Mendoza. The key for Las Vegas would be surrounding the 31-year-old coach with extensive experience, which could mean hiring someone like Brian Daboll as offensive coordinator and bringing in a defensive coordinator who might have head coaching experience.
It is a near certainty that Webb would likely poach some talent from the Broncos coaching staff, bringing assistants with him to Las Vegas for a pay raise and promotion. While nothing is official, and the Raiders coaching search is still very much ongoing, Webb might be the front-runner right now.
