After missing the postseason for the first time since 2014, the Kansas City Chiefs knew they had some extra work to do this offseason. The goal was to retool a roster that already had a lot of star talent, but was missing a few key pieces on both sides of the ball.

General manager Brett Veach did something daring, trading away two-time All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie in exchange for a first, fifth, sixth, and 2027 third-round pick. The Chiefs have responded by replacing their top corner with Mansoor Delane, the sixth overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, signing Kader Kohou, and former first-round pick Kaiir Elam.

But the Chiefs may not be done adding to their secondary. Now they’re discussing a reunion with an old friend.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Chiefs are spending Thursday visiting with free agent cornerback L’Jarius Sneed. While Sneed was traded from the Chiefs to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for a third-round pick back in 2024, he didn’t last long in Tennessee. Even though Sneed signed a four-year, $76 million contract with the Titans, he played just 12 games with the team.

The 29-year-old injured his quad late in 2024, and he hasn’t really been the same since.

However, Sneed was always at his best in Kansas City, growing from a fourth-round prospect into a high-level starter who helped them win two Super Bowls. Perhaps reconnecting with his former teammates and defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo is just what Sneed needs. He could be just what the Chiefs need too.
