The Indianapolis Colts clearly aren’t afraid to give players a chance to prove they still have what it takes to compete at the NFL level. We saw that last season with the shocking decision to pull Philip Rivers out of retirement after four years away from the NFL.
This time, the Colts are pulling another player out of retirement, but unlike Rivers, this one is under the age of 40. Heck, he’s not even 30 years old yet.
According to the Colts’ X social media page, the team has signed safety Nasir Adderley to a one-year contract. Adderley, 28, has not played in the NFL since his rookie contract expired with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2023. Adderley had announced his retirement at the age of 25.
Yet, in February, Adderley revealed that he was planning on making a comeback to the NFL. Two months after his announcement, Adderley has found a new landing spot with the Colts, where he’s already familiar with head coach Shane Steichen, who was on the Chargers’ coaching staff for the first two seasons of Adderley’s career.
Adderley has started 44 of the 50 games he’s appeared in throughout his four-year career. He’s compiled 232 tackles (four for loss), 12 pass deflections, three interceptions, two forced fumbles, and half a sack. Now he’ll get a chance to build on those numbers with Indianapolis.
