Nine years ago, Indianapolis Colts team owner Jim Irsay was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He pled guilty to the misdemeanor, was fined $500K by the NFL, and was later hit with a six-game suspension too.
While the incident was long ago, it recently came back into the spotlight thanks to an interview on HBO’s Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel.
Mr. Irsay stated he felt he was the victim of racial injustice, due to being a “rich, white billionaire”. Here were his remarks.
“I am prejudiced against because I’m a rich, white billionaire. If I’m just the average guy down the block, they’re not pulling me in, of course not. I don’t care what it sounds like. It’s the truth. I could give a damn what people think how anything sounds or sounds like. The truth is the truth and I know the truth.”

Naturally, Irsay’s comments drew widespread criticism, and sports shows all across the nation are weighing in.
Well, Irsay happened to catch one spiel from ESPN’s First Take morning talk show, and he clearly did not like what he heard. Only this time instead of putting it all into an interview, Irsay didn’t hesitate to express his thoughts on social media for everyone to read at their convenience.
Here is a string of interesting tweets by Mr. Irsay from Wednesday afternoon.
We’re guessing Irsay’s comments won’t go over any better this time. Taking personal shots at a reporter? Not a good look. It doesn’t matter what color he is, how much money he has, or what title he holds, Irsay’s being pretty mean too, and that’s an ugly look.
