A top player in NFL free agency that both the Kansas City Chiefs and Tennessee Titans were expected to target just came off the board before the market even opened.

After a disappointing 3-14 finish in 2025, the Titans have a lot of areas on the roster they need to upgrade. However, they will be able to address many of them with high-impact players this offseason because they have the most available cap space in the NFL.

The KC Chiefs also had a losing season for the first time during the Andy Reid era this past season. However, they were in salary cap hell after the season. But they opened up a bunch of cap space this month when they restructured much of Patrick Mahomes‘ 2026 contract into a signing bonus.

Breece Hall no longer an option for Chiefs for Titans in NFL free agency

Interestingly enough, both the KC Chiefs and Titans are in the market for running backs this offseason. The Kansas City offense has lacked a true No. 1 back for years, and Tennessee could either replace Tony Pollard or pair him with another proven back in 2026. That is why both teams have been linked to New York Jets restricted free agent Breece Hall.

However, on Tuesday, the four-year veteran was taken off the board for both teams. During his media scrum ahead of this week’s NFL Combine, NY Jets general manager Darren Mougey confirmed that the team will either ink Hall to a new long-term pact or plan to slap the franchise tag on him this offseason.

The projected franchise tag for running backs in 2026 is expected to be $14.54 million.
