After overcoming the odds following the departure of Aaron Rodgers, the Green Bay Packers are looking for ways to reclaim the NFC North division crown they last won in 2021. Unlike last year, the Packers know they can count on Jordan Love to lead an effective scoring offense, but they also need to get their young QB more help.
The NFL’s largest salary cap increase in league history will help the Packers, just like it will for the other 31 teams, but that doesn’t mean tough decisions aren’t ahead for GM Brian Gutekunst.

Green Bay Packers approach Aaron Jones about pay cut

David Bakhtiari may have played his last snap with the Green Bay Packers, but that remains to be seen. Another player who could be on his way out from Lambeau Field is Pro Bowl running back Aaron Jones.
According to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the Packers have already met with Jones’ agent, Drew Rosenhaus, about a pay cut in the final year of his contract.
The Packers would like to keep Jones around for the 2024 season, but not at his current cap hit of $17.5 million.
As a 29-year-old running back, there’s no telling how many peak years Jones has left for the Packers. A.J. Dillon is already set for free agency, and it’s possible Jones gets released from his contract too. Even then, it doesn’t spell the end of his days in Green Bay, depending on how much interest Jones receives on the open market.
After missing six games due to hamstring and knee injuries, Jones finished with just 656 rushing yards, tying his career-worst average of 4.6 yards per attempt.
