Has Kyler Murray played his last snap as a member of the Arizona Cardinals? Limited to just five games due to injury and benched for the others, some believe Murray is as good as gone from Arizona.
Meanwhile, there’s no denying that the New York Jets will be searching for another starting quarterback this offseason. Last year’s investment, a two-year, $40 million contract for Justin Fields, didn’t pan out.
The Jets went just 2-7 with Fields as their starting QB. While the 26-year-old will still be under contract in 2026, the Jets must bring in some stiffer competition if they expect better results in 2026.
So, who might the Jets bring in? Some have wondered if the Jets could be a prime landing spot for Murray, who has a $52.6 million cap hit for 2026.
However, one of Murray’s former teammates reportedly spoke to Jets insider Rich Cimini and had a strong negative reaction toward New York targeting the two-time Pro Bowl QB. He later detailed their conversation on the Flight Deck with Rich Cimini podcast.
“I was talking to someone, one of his former teammates, the other day, and he basically warned off the Jets about [him]. I said, ‘You know the Jets might be going after Kyler in a month or two.’ He goes, ‘No, no, no, the Jets don’t want to do that. You don’t want Kyler Murray as your quarterback.’”

Of course, it’s possible that the Cardinals will come to the realization that they’re better off keeping Murray heading into the 2026 season. After all, perhaps new head coach Mike LaFleur can help maximize the former No. 1 overall pick’s potential, much like we saw from Liam Coen and Trevor Lawrence this season.
