Alternate uniforms in the NFL have been the rage for some time. As the league continues to be a professional sports goliath that prints cash in the United States, special substitute jerseys have become a fun way to switch things up and are another revenue source for teams each season.
While many franchises have gone the alternate uniform route over the last decade, there are some who have stuck with their classic attire and haven’t really tested that market. One of those teams was the Cleveland Browns, however, that will change this season.
Cleveland Browns will wear all-white uniforms three times in 2023
On Tuesday, the organization revealed their special “White Out” uniforms that they will wear for three games this season. The mostly white uniforms channel the classic white jerseys that the Cleveland Browns have worn many times in previous eras. But the major change from recent decades is that the franchise will go away from its classic all-orange helmet and will have a matching white helmet to go with the new gear.
The team will wear the special uniforms for their Week 2 game against rivals the Pittsburgh Steelers, then in Week 6 in a difficult matchup with NFC powerhouse the San Francisco 49ers, and then one last time in Week 17 against Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets.
