The Buffalo Bills fired Sean McDermott, despite the head coach leading them to a very respectable 98-50 regular season record since 2017. Now, it’s up to newly promoted team president, Brandon Beane, to replace him. Doing so won’t be easy, as the Bills clearly have high expectations.
Yet, the Bills’ coaching search must go on. On Wednesday, they took another small step in the right direction.
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Bills have now requested to interview Jacksonville Jaguars offensive coordinator Grant Udinski. Udinski just turned 30 years old. If hired, he’d be not only the youngest head coach in the league today, he’d be the youngest in NFL history.
He also has a second head coaching interview scheduled with the Cleveland Browns on Friday. Nevertheless, Udinksi has emerged as a popular head coaching candidate after helping Trevor Lawrence experience a career year.
Prior to joining Liam Coen’s staff in Jacksonville last season, Udinski spent three seasons on Kevin O’Connell’s staff with the Minnesota Vikings. Yet, he keeps climbing the coaching ladder, and the next step could be as an NFL head coach.
In addition to Udinski, the Bills have also expressed interest in their own offensive coordinator Joe Brady, Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, former Bills offensive coordinator (and former New York Giants head coach) Brian Daboll, and Commanders RB coach/run game coordinator Anthony Lynn.
