Athletes who play football understand the risks involved and the understanding that their lives could be impacted on any given snap. While most injuries heal, some players never return to 100%. One of the Buffalo Bills‘ players may be about to find that out the hard way.

According to Bills general manager Brandon Beane, cornerback Dorian Strong is about to undergo surgery that could lead to the end of his career.

“It’s a very serious deal,” Beane said. “He’s potentially going to have a procedure that will determine whether he can play.”

Strong, 23, joined the Bills as the 177th overall pick in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft last April. He ended up starting a game and making a total of four appearances in his debut season. He tallied 10 tackles in the process.

However, Strong’s season came to an early end after he suffered a neck injury on September 28. Now his football future is up in the air.

Doctors will presumably put Strong under the knife, where they’ll determine how severe the injury is. From there, Strong’s NFL career could depend on how well the recovery process goes from what is clearly a complicated surgery.
