While most of the top free agents already agreed to contracts months ago, several potential impact playmakers remain up for grabs. Now that the NFL Draft has concluded, we’re seeing the veteran free agent market heat up. The latest example comes via the Baltimore Ravens, who recently freed up some cap space when reaching a contract extension with Lamar Jackson.

With their newfound room to spend, the Ravens are signing cornerback Rock Ya-Sin, who was viewed as one of the top free agents remaining after the draft. According to Jordan Schultz, the contract is a one-year agreement worth “up to” $6 million.

Ya-Sin is still just 26 years old and has played for both the Indianapolis Colts and Las Vegas Raiders in his four-year NFL tenure. Some might say Ya-Sin is coming off the best season of his career after allowing a passer rating of 82.5 in coverage in 2022. This is an improvement over the 93.4 passer rating allowed in 2021 with the Colts.

So it’s certainly possible Ya-Sin has yet to reach his ceiling. Perhaps the Ravens can help the 34th overall pick of the 2019 NFL Draft take yet another step in his development as he heads into his fifth season. For now, Ya-Sin joins a cornerback room led by Marlon Humphrey, along with a large collection of younger talent also hoping to prove themselves in the NFL.
