Despite coaching them to a Super Bowl victory in 2012, the Baltimore Ravens recently determined that John Harbaugh was not equipped to lead them to titletown again. Now, the Ravens have the unenviable task of trying to replace the most successful coach in franchise history.
The Ravens have begun assembling their wishlist of coaching candidates, and they’ve wasted no time getting the interview process underway. That includes starting with a pair of interviews on Thursday, just 24 hours after Harbaugh was relieved of his duties.
Specifically, the Ravens are starting by interviewing current Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, whose previous stop includes being the Broncos’ head coach. After leading an 11-21 record across two seasons, Joseph was relieved of his duties. But now that he has Denver’s defense back on top as a member of Sean Payton’s staff, the 53-year-old Joseph has re-emerged as a strong candidate again.
Yet, the Ravens are also interviewing who’s considered a rising star in the coaching industry, Denver’s quarterbacks coach/passing game coordinator, Davis Webb. The 30-year-old former quarterback just wrapped up his NFL playing career in 2022, but quickly got into coaching with the Broncos in 2023.
After spending two seasons as Denver’s QB coach, Webb earned the additional title of passing game coordinator in 2025. Though he’s just three seasons into his coaching career, Webb has generated a lot of conversation around the league, he’s even set to interview for the Las Vegas Raiders’ head coaching vacancy too.
If nothing else, the Ravens can evaluate whether Webb would be a good fit for their offensive coordinator role, but that’s if he doesn’t knock their socks off as a head coaching candidate instead.
