After missing the playoffs for the first time since 2021, the Baltimore Ravens surprisingly fired John Harbaugh, who may be a future Hall of Famer. When the move was made, many wondered how the Ravens would possibly find someone better than the coach who ranks 14th on the NFL’s all-time wins list.
Time will tell. But the Ravens are doing their background work on several candidates, and they surely had a few names in mind when they let go of Harbaugh. Some are even connecting the dots to one specific candidate.
The Vegas betting market is already pointing to one favorite to become the next Ravens coach, current Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter. The current odds have Minter at +250.
Coming in second was former Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski at odds of +350. Then, came Ravens offensive coordinator Todd Monken at odds of +450.
How weird would it be for the Ravens to move on from Harbaugh, only to hire a disciple from his brother Jim Harbaugh’s staff in Los Angeles? Yet, Minter is a very good candidate who’s sure to draw a lot of leaguewide interest from the seven teams with head coaching vacancies.
Prior to coordinating the Chargers’ defense, Minter was operating in the same role with the Michigan Wolverines, where he helped them win a National Championship. Though, he has no previous head coaching experience, outside of one game when he filled in during Harbaugh’s NCAA suspension.
