Even though the Detroit Lions have one of the NFL’s best pass-rushers in Aidan Hutchinson, it’s seemingly never enough. When a star pass-rusher like Maxx Crosby becomes available, teams like the Lions are often mentioned in trade rumors.
While the Lions did finish in a fourth-place tie for having the most sacks in the NFL with 49 this season, fans still drool over the thought of having two elite edge rushers in Detroit. With reports of Crosby apparently wanting a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders, those rumors have resurfaced.
But what does Hutchinson think about the possibility of teaming up with Crosby? Hutchinson addressed the “dream” scenario in an interview with Casino Guru’s DJ Siddiqi.
“The idea of it is incredibly promising,” Hutchinson said. “That sounds like a dream scenario to be playing alongside a beast like that. I was answering the same questions last year about Myles Garrett, so I don’t know the reality of this situation and how real this actually is, especially given our GM — if you listen to him talk a little bit about edge rushers, I don’t know. It doesn’t sound like it’d be something they pursue.
“But you never know what they do. There’s also the money and cash situation. I know we got a lot of young, promising talent on our team that they’re going to pay this offseason. I’m just happy I am not involved in that, because all that stuff goes a little over my head. I just want to play ball.”
There’s no guarantee that the Raiders trade Crosby. He’s still under contract with Las Vegas through 2029. Yet, with another rebuild underway, anything is possible, perhaps even a trade to pair up with Hutchinson in Detroit.
