Trent Williams has made headlines recently because he’s not attending Washington Redskins offseason workouts, including mandatory minicamp.

There have been reports that the seven-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle is holding out for a new contract.

But on Wednesday, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported the holdout has nothing to do with finances. Instead, he reported Williams has told teammates that he wants a trade or to be released because he’s upset with the way Washington handled a recent medical issue.

Williams recently had a growth removed from his head. There was some initial concern that it might be malignant, but it was not and he is expected to make a full recovery.

Shortly after that explosive report circulated around social media, Williams’ teammate Adrian Peterson was asked about it. He responded by saying, “I don’t know where that came from. I talk to him all the time and I’ve never heard him say that,” per Michael Phillips of the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

It’s going to be fascinating to see how this story turns going forward.
