Recently, the New York Jets made it known that they plan to move on from Aaron Rodgers later this offseason. This doesn’t come as a significant surprise, considering they have a new general manager and head coach. Not to mention, Rodgers’ Jets haven’t exactly had success.
While his first season was wiped away due to a torn Achilles, Rodgers led the team to just a 5-12 record last year, though his TD-to-INT ratio was respectable at 28 to 11. Still, before the Jets made it public that they won’t continue with the 41-year-old quarterback, the future Hall of Famer made a last-ditch effort to stay.

Aaron Rodgers ‘aggressively’ asked to return to New York Jets

Shortly after the season ended, Aaron Rodgers admitted that he’d need some time before determining whether he wanted to play a 21st season in the NFL. While now it appears that Rodgers does indeed want to play another year, it won’t be with the New York Jets.
However, according to The New York Post’s Ryan Dunleavy, Rodgers begged the Jets to let him return for a third season in New York.
“Concerned that his career could end with a whimper, Rodgers, 41, aggressively urged the Jets to stick with him for another season or two over the course of multiple conversations last week, a well-placed source told The Post.
When the Jets decided to move on anyway, Rodgers accepted his fate ‘like a man going to the gallows,’the source said, and slipped into the darkness for a few days.”
After spending 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers and two more with the New York Jets, now Rodgers will have to find a new organization to join. Expectations are that he’ll prioritize finding a playoff contender to play for, but that may be easier said than done.
