A lot was made around Jacksonville about the Jaguars’ decision to sit sophomore quarterback Gardner Minshew for Week 9’s outing against the Houston Texans. In his stead, rookie sixth-round pick Jake Luton got the start on Sunday.

After missing on his first ever NFL pass attempt, the Oregon State and Idaho product was facing a third-and-8. His response? A 73-yard touchdown strike to stud young receiver D.J. Chark.

At 1-6 on the season, Jacksonville entered Sunday’s game having failed to score a single point on its first drive. Luton changed that big time. It had the limited number of fans on hand in Duval partying like it was 1999.

Obviously, those watching this developments from the confines of their homes had a lot to say about Luton’s first career touchdown pass on just his second pass.

Luton lunacy replacing Minshew mania? Okay, might be a bit early for that. Even then, this was an absolute dime from the former college star.

Way to start your NFL career, young man.
