News came in hot and heavy around the football world as Day 3 of the 2020 NFL Draft was set to get going on Saturday. Most of it surrounded the defending NFC champion San Francisco 49ers.

General manager John Lynch and Co. acquired future Hall of Fame left tackle Trent Williams from the Washington Redskins for pennies on the dollar.

It was then reported that incumbent left tackle Joe Staley, a six-time Pro Bowler himself, was about to retire after 14 seasons in San Francisco.

Staley made it official with an emotional post on social media later on Saturday.

Legitimately, one of the most-underrated players during his time in San Francisco, Staley is widely respected within the confines of the league.

A potential future Hall of Famer, Staley was on the receiving end of praise following his retirement.
