The San Francisco 49ers stunned the league trading for seven-time Pro Bowl left tackle Trent Williams. Now we know why. Joe Staley, the six-time Pro Bowler, will reportedly retire due to health concerns, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Saturday.

Staley was a first-round pick (28th overall) back in 2007. He’s played his entire 13-year career with the 49ers and has been one of the NFL’s most consistent, excellent left tackles over that span — earning a spot on the NFL 2010s All-Decade team in the process.
