NFL TV Ratings: Chiefs vs. Dolphins

Kansas City Chiefs’ 26-7 win over the Miami Dolphins was the largest streaming event in history, NBC Sports announced.

This is good news for the NFL, which took some backlash for having a playoff game that was not available on linear TV and only available for streaming. Peacock paid more than $100 million for the rights to stream that game exclusively.

While the game was the most-streamed event ever in the U.S., to get the average audience, the streaming media number was combined with over-air viewers in Miami and Kansas City and mobile viewers watching on NFL+. Combined, the game averaged 23.0 million viewers, according to Nielsen.

Still, that number is up 6% from last year’s primetime AFC Wild Card Game (21.8 million TAD on NBC, Peacock, NBC Sports Digital, NFL Digital).

NBC Sports said the number of viewers drove the Internet to its largest U.S. usage ever on a single day and the largest Internet event ever, consuming 30 percent of Internet traffic during the game.

The game pushed Peacock to its largest single day ever in audience usage and engagement, as well as time spent, with 16.3 million concurrent devices.

The Houston Texas vs. Cleveland Browns game gave NBC huge NFL TV ratings

Saturday’s broadcast of the Houston Texans’ 45-14 win over the Cleveland Browns got 29.0 million viewers on NBC, NBC Sports Digital, NFL Digital, Peacock and Telmundo.

That was the most-watched game on NBC since 2014.
