The Indianapolis Colts surprised a lot of people when they signed troubled free-agent quarterback Chad Kelly earlier in May.
Indy will now be without the former Denver Broncos’ seventh-round pick to start the 2019 season after the NFL suspended him two games on Friday.
The suspension stems from Kelly being arrested last October in Colorado for trespassing after a team Halloween party. He was almost immediately released by the Broncos and ultimately pleaded guilty to the charges — avoiding jail time in the process.
The final pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, Kelly fell that April due to numerous off-field issues while in college at Clemson and Mississippi. He’s the nephew of Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly.
