In today’s NFL’s tripleheader, as part of the NFL’s second annual John Madden Thanksgiving Celebration, each team will wear a jersey patch featuring the face of the Hall of Fame coach.

Madden, who died in 2021, made Thanksgiving Day games memorable with his signature breakdown of plays and his fondness of the Turducken. Players who performed well had the opportunity to eat a part of the turkey postgame as part of receiving the Turkey Leg Award.

Madden, a Super Bowl-winning coach for the Raiders, grew in popularity for his career as a legendary broadcaster and his popular self-titled video game series. Years later, his impact on the game is still being felt by a new generation of football fans.
