We knew a name change was coming for the Washington Football Team. Not only because Joe Theismann dropped the ball, but because the organization announced ahead of time that Feb. 2 would be the official new team name reveal. The anticipation is over, the Washington Football Team will now be known as the Washington Commanders.

With such a monumental decision, justifiably, fans had their instant reactions to the new name change. Some good, some bad, but you can see for yourself.

One of the Washington Commanders’ best players is not a fan

Back in November star defensive end Chase Young was asked to grade potential new team names for the Washington Football Team. Hear what he had to say regarding the possibility of being known as the Washington Commanders.

What’s next for Washington Commanders?

Now that they actually have a team name, the Washington Commanders will focus on finding a franchise quarterback for head coach Ron Rivera. Veteran journeyman Ryan Fitzpatrick is set for unrestricted free agency, while Taylor Heinicke is under contract through the 2022 season.

The Commanders have the 11th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and could look to select a rookie, or they could turn to free agency. Other reports have suggested the Commanders are ready to swing for the fences, by bringing in a big name.

Either way, the Commanders have a bright offseason ahead of them.
