To many NFL Draft experts, Arizona star Tetairoa McMillan is one of the best wide receivers in the 2025 NFL Draft class. But a new video that emerged this week should worry teams linked to him in Round 1, like the New York Jets, Las Vegas Raiders, and Denver Broncos.
All of the best free agents this spring are off the board. And many of the biggest trades that were rumored have been completed or scrapped. The focus of the NFL offseason for all 32 teams has now pivoted to the 2025 NFL Draft. For teams in the top 20 of next month’s event, they will get the chance to take a player that could become an anchor of their roster for years to come.
Arizona pass-catcher Tetairoa McMillan has gotten a lot of attention heading into the draft due to the importance of passing in today’s game. The 6-foot-5, 212-pounder is seen by many NFL analysts as the best receiver in this year’s class after Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter. That is why he has been linked to franchises like the Jets, Raiders, and Broncos in some mock drafts in recent weeks.
However, a surprising video emerged this week that is sure to make those teams and others hesitant about using a premium pick on the prospect.
Tetairoa McMillan doesn’t have a passion for football?
On Friday, a worrisome video featuring McMillan made its way on the web. In it, the receiver claims he doesn’t watch football “at all.” When asked if it was hard for him to watch game film due to a lack of interest in the sport, he admitted it was.
“I don’t like watching film either… I don’t need to watch it by myself because we go over it as a receiver group.”
For franchises considering the use of a first-round pick and investing millions of dollars in McMillan, knowing he doesn’t love football will be a problem. If he is to reach his potential and give them their money’s worth, it will require doing extra work beyond what is done during regular hours at the team’s facility.
It will be interesting to see if this video makes its way around NFL circles. And if it leads to a drop for a player that has been projected to go in the top 15 of next month’s event.
