We’re still nearly two months away from the start of the 2024 NFL Draft, yet that won’t stop anyone from trying to predict the first round via a million different mock drafts. Everyone wants to know if the Chicago Bears are settled on Caleb Williams with the first overall pick, but most view that selection as a formality at this point.

The same remains true at No. 2, where the Washington Commanders could become fixated on Drake Maye. At No. 3, the New England Patriots have just as big of a QB need as any other team, which could net them Jayden Daniels, unless rumors of J.J. McCarthy soaring to the top three picks are true.

But what about the fourth pick?

One GM believes 2024 NFL Draft could feature QBs in first four picks

The Arizona Cardinals recently confessed their undying loyalty to Kyler Murray, and while Marvin Harrison Jr. has to be appealing, it’s possible they receive a trade offer they can’t refuse in a deep receiver draft class that allows them to find a WR later on.

At least one unnamed general manager believes this scenario is possible, which could lead to four quarterbacks selected in the first four picks for the first time in NFL Draft history.

Dianna Russini of The Athletic revealed that some within the NFL believe the Cardinals are open to trading back from No. 4. Later on when she asked an anonymous (to us) NFL GM about whether four QBs could be selected in a row, the GM replied, “Absolutely!”

That’s the strongest indication we’ve seen yet in regards to the possibility of a J.J. McCarthy or another QB becoming a top-five pick. Yet, the Cardinals have been here before.

Just last year, when they held the third overall pick, the Cardinals worked out a deal with the Houston Texans, netting them a future first-round selection while sliding down the draft board. It’s possible a QB-needy team pulls off a similar trade this year, and the Cardinals appear open for business.
