At this time of unprecedented national emergency, a lot of Americans are struggling financially and emotionally. That doesn’t even take into account the physical toll COVID-19 has taken on the United States and the rest of the world.
As we attempt to grasp the severity of the pandemic and stunt its growth, the sports world is seemingly doing its part.
The NFL released a statement on Thursday indicating that its community has combined to donate north of $35 million to COVID-19 relief efforts around the United States.
In conjunction with teams, owners, players and the NFLPA, said donations have helped out multiple charitable organizations throughout the country. That includes American Red Cross and the Boys & Girls Club of America.
We have seen it at nearly every turn. From the Carolina Panthers and Buffalo Bills to individual players, the outpouring of support has been absolutely amazing.
As the sports world continues to find itself in a holding pattern, those involved at a community level also continue to show what is so awesome about the American spirit. It’s yet another example of the sports world rising to the occasion during one of the most difficult times in the history of this nation.
