Atlanta Hawks forward Cam Reddish has long been rumored to be available in a trade. On Thursday, the New York Knicks took action, trading for the 22-year old swingman.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Hawks are trading Reddish to the Knicks for a package of players and picks. Here are the full trade details.

Cam Reddish gets his wish, Hawks land first-round pick

Reddish has been seeking an increased role, either in Atlanta or elsewhere. With this trade, he’s expected to receive more playing time than the 23.4 minutes per game he’s currently averaging. Reddish has started seven out of a possible 34 games this season.

For the Hawks, they get an additional first-round pick that can be used in a future trade as general manager Travis Schlenk hinted at recently. Woj mentions the Hawks had been searching for a first-round pick expected to fall somewhere near the middle of the round, or a young player in any potential Reddish trade. He also states the Lakers and Pacers had also recently discussed a Reddish trade, but could not agree to terms.

Meanwhile the Knicks have been slipping in the Eastern Conference standings after reaching the playoffs last season. This year, they are 11th in their conference after finishing fourth a year ago.

Landing Reddish gives them an instant starter they can plug in next to Julius Randle, providing them an athletic wing who can continue developing alongside R.J. Barrett and crew.

Barrett and Reddish also played together at Duke before entering the 2019 NBA Draft. Barrett was selected third overall and Reddish was taken 10th. Now they get to reunite once again in the pros.
