The New York Knicks have already been active on the NBA trade front this season, acquiring stud two-way forward OG Anunoby from the Toronto Raptors late last month.

There is now an expecation that front office head Leon Rose will continue to make moves with roughly three weeks to go ahead of the Feb. 8 NBA trade deadline.

According to HoopsHype insider Michael Scotto, The Knicks are dangling young guard Quentin Grimes and high-priced veteran wing Evan Fournier in trade talks ahead of the deadline.

Fournier’s name has come up in relation to newly-acquired Toronto Raptors wing Bruce Brown. He was picked up by Toronto in the blockbuster Pascal Siakam trade earlier in the week.

However, Grimes’ inclusion in trade rumors is new. A first-round pick out of Houston back in 2021, the guard has seen a downtick in playing time under head coach Tom Thibodeau this season. He’s averaging a mere 19.7 minutes per game while scoring 6.9 points per. The 23-year-old guard is also shooting a mere 39% from the field.

New York currently finds itself at 25-17 about midway through the 2023-24 season. The team has won eight of its past 10 games. It is currently the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference.

It makes perfect sense to add to the roster given that New York has a ton of draft assets to offer up in exchange for an upgrade to its roster. Dangling Grimes and Fournier adds a new layer to this.
