One beat writer for the New York Knicks believes the team could move at least three players at the NBA trade deadline in an attempt to overhaul the team and finally win their first NBA playoff series in a decade.

On Sunday, the final days before the NBA trade deadline got kicked into high gear when the Brooklyn Nets acquiesced to Kyrie Irving’s trade request and shipped him off to the Dallas Mavericks for a pair of players and several future draft picks. While Brooklyn has been busy and could make more moves, they may not be the only team that’s active before Feb. 9.

Over the last couple of months, the Knicks have been linked to possible deals for disgruntled wingman Cam Reddish, Toronto Raptors defensive ace OG Anunoby, and a multi-player trade with the Utah Jazz. And it seems that one team insider believes where there is smoke there is likely some trade fire.

Strong chance New York Knicks move Cam Reddish, Derrick Rose, and more before NBA trade deadline

On Saturday, New York Post New York Knicks insider Zach Braziller spoke with SNY on the latest with the organization before the deadline. And in his opinion, he expects the team to move several players that have fallen out of the rotation to bolster a squad that “deserves” some help to try and win their first postseason series since 2013.

“Cam Reddish is going to get traded. I don’t think there’s any question about that. I can see Fournier getting moved, I can see Derrick Rose getting moved. Look, this team deserves an upgrade. This team has proven it is worthy of the front office going and adding a difference-maker. Whether that’s OG Anunoby, whether that’s Saddiq Bey, or Josh Hart, or any of the guys out there. They deserve it. I’m not saying go out and trade all your first-round picks or anything, but they do deserve a rotational player that can help this team.”

After being used heavily early in the season, Reddish has seen his minutes drop significantly in the last month. Fournier is completely out of the New York Knicks rotation and has been replaced with a defensive upgrade in 2021 first-round pick Quentin Grimes. While Rose has also played far less for head coach Tom Thibodeau with Miles McBride getting the bulk of his minutes.

Obi Toppin, the team’s first-round pick in 2020, has also been connected to trades to the Indiana Pacers and Utah Jazz over the last month.
