New York Knicks insider suggests Evan Fournier could soon be flipped for a perfect addition before trade deadline

A New York Knicks insider believes the team could finally trade Evan Fournier in the coming weeks, and it might be to land a player who could be a perfect fit for their current style of play.

The Knicks were the first team to make a blockbuster trade this season when they acquired 3-and-D ace OG Anunoby from the Toronto Raptors. The move has proven to be exactly what they needed as the rising star has boosted their defense and been a perfect fit in head coach Tom Thibodeau’s system.

However, in the deal for Anunoby the Knicks traded 2022-23 Sixth Man Award runner-up Immanuel Quickley. That severly hampered their bench and addressing their reserves ahead of the playoffs will be a priority for the front office. And it seems there is one player some in the organization see as a good fit ahead of the Feb. 8 NBA trade deadline.

On Thursday, SNY’s New York Knicks insider Ian Begley wrote about how the expiring contract of veteran Evan Fournier “is valuable in many trades the Knicks could explore in the next three weeks.” In a separate report, Begley revealed that talented bench player Bruce Brown Jr. could be a potential target for the team if the Toronto Raptors make him available after adding him from the Indiana Pacers in the Pascal Siakam trade.

“There is significant internal support within the Knicks to pursue Brown,” Begley wrote. Thibodeau is also reportedly a fan of Brown Jr. and it is understandable why. The former Denver Nuggets player showed his value in their championship run last season as he was a top talent on their bench and can guard bigger men despite only being 6-foot-4.

He is also another good rebounder out of the backcourt, is a solid three-point shooter, and has a gritty style of play that is a perfect fit for the current Knicks team and their fanbase.

Begley also revealed that the organization is likely to finally pull the trigger on a long-rumored Fournier trade to do right by the veteran forward and avoid developing a poor reputation with players and agents around the league by stashing him on the bench for several seasons and not moving him in a trade.
