New York Jets sign RB Charcandrick West

Just 48 hours after being released by the Kansas City Chiefs, running back Charcandrick West has found a new home.

On Friday, the New York Jets signed West to the roster to fill the void after the team released kicker Cairo Santos.

West found himself at the bottom of a loaded depth chart in Kansas City, which led to the organization cutting the young back. The 27-year-old, who shined in 2016 with 848 total yards and five total touchdowns, was behind Kareem Hunt, Spencer Ware and Damien Williams in Kansas City.

Now in New York, West will have the opportunity to see more touches. He likely moves ahead of Thomas Rawls on the depth chart and could compete for some touches with Bilal Powell.

In three seasons, West rushed for 999 yards and seven rushing touchdowns with 3.8 yards per carry and had 75 receptions for 552 yards and five receiving touchdowns. He contributed on special teams for Kansas City last season with two kickoff returns.
